The Curse

Daniel meets a blast from the past as a new enemy emerges. But hey, at least he's...she's...real pretty. What will Jeff make of The Curse...and what messages will Brent find?

*Note to self: next time, don't retrofit an existing Goa'uld death glider, just make the dang thing from scratch yourself. Trust me, bro.

[1:34] We're going to add Andy's name to our growing list of our Stargate production staff and stargate family that is very influential in the course of the show this is actually only the second episode which he has directed for the stargate franchise but hold on this is about to get a lot more involved he's actually been around since the pilot episode though serving throughout the first season as the first assistant director but from the second season on his status gets elevated to production manager and he's also the first director of the stargate family or the director of the second unit for the whole series okay like he just does the whole show he's not the first one who really started in one of those assistant positions in season one and kind of worked their way up i forget who the other one was we had i don't know maybe last season but yeah there was somebody else and and you know his was certainly more he wasn't just like the guy going to get coffee like he he was a person you know yeah not a production assistant like a pa but assistant director sort of yeah he was the first camera actor um and they you know obviously they give him the second unit let him just go direct that for a while and then they're tossing them sexual main episodes down the sixth season i will go ahead and tell you he will eventually join as a producer of the show okay where he will remain through the end of season 10 when sg1 wraps he's actually going to move over as a as a producer on atlantis and he'll be there for atlantis and And he's going to be with the franchise during their run for Stargate Universe.

[3:00] So the guy is around all of Stargate. He is a part of the team. It's a name we're going to get to know. It's a name. You're going to hear it several times.

[3:08] Cool. Now, in this episode, there's a bunch of new characters, not necessarily ones you're going to see a bunch more that are ever going to come back or anything like that. But this particular group of characters that are guest actors and things like that, they're all named after Green Lantern characters. Okay. Okay. so particularly their last names not necessarily the first names but their last names are all green lantern characters i'm not going to pick up on a lot of that i never got into the green lantern thing either because marvel is better than dc 100 100 disagree with that you can send all of your emails to jeff at stargate for the first time.com and he's going to say yee-haw.

[3:50] All right, Jeff, with that, why don't we go ahead and jump into this episode? Hey, if you guys are joining us out there for the first time, every episode is somebody's first time. Welcome to the show. We hope you're enjoying it so far. What's about to happen is Jeff and I are going to go watch this episode together right now. We haven't watched this episode before taking notes and come in to talk about this. Nope. We're going to do it right now. If you're hanging out with us on YouTube, stick around because you're going to catch the reaction that Jeff and I are going to do to that episode. Just so you get to watch it with us a little bit. And if you want the full unedited version of that reaction, head over to our Patreon page at patreon.com slash Bad Nerds. If you're listening to us on a podcasting app, buckle up, you're about to gate into the future. We'll meet you on the other side. I'll share my first time reactions. Brent will share any of the sci-fi messages that he's found. So Brent, let's dive into the curse.

[4:45] You.

[4:53] Oh, it looks very Egypt-y. Mm-hmm. I've got one word in my prediction, right? Mm-hmm. That's what I should start doing, is like just going by the words. We finally have a chance to do a resonance scan on the Osiris chart. Great, great. Osiris. Another couple of weeks, and we never would have known what was inside. Well, we could always break the seal and take a look. Blasphemy well half joking you coming yeah i just have a few things i'll see you down there all right yeah don't trust this guy no immediately don't trust this guy he's gonna open them all, time out jeff do you remember what happened last time we found canopic jars wasn't that um what's her face hathor hathor yeah she was in the canope jar yeah and that didn't turn out well for anyone including us as viewers, It is interesting to be back to the Egyptians there now, you know? It feels like a... Almost like a step backwards in a way. Backwards? Not backwards, but back. Tilks into this stuff. That's why he's reading it. Right. A great week is in store for you. You'll be going on a trip. Let me see that. He did that in the movie. That's right. In the newspaper. Uh-huh. Uh-oh. He's dead. My archaeology professor. Oh.

[6:21] Was that dude? That we just saw? Yeah. Because the other dude used the Osiris statue to gack him. So, Jeff, you got Egyptian old Daniel colleague. Yeah. All I need now is a curse. I nailed it. Indiana Jones, man. Here we go. Somebody puts on a hat. If somebody puts on a hat or has a whip, I win. He was like a father to me. Daniel's BS meter is going through the roof right now. He's like. Right. And some of his bitter disappointments. Oh, yeah. Just stare at Daniel when you say that. Yeah. Some history there. I'll remember him always as a... This guy, 23. Dedicated archaeologist. Kind and generous man. He sounds so bored. And a true friend. I think he's trying to sound like stoic a little bit, but he just sounds bored. It's like trying to sound sad, but not. Yeah, that's fair. Oh, I like that shot. That's a good composition. good job andy makita there's a reason to get that guy on great steven uh yeah you.

[7:41] Know i still can't believe he's gone what have you been up to uh i've been busy i've been traveling i've looked for signs of you out there in the fringes there's been no papers no research projects it's like you fell off the face of the earth stepped off actually something like that as i recall the last time i saw you you were giving a lecture to an empty room, oh yeah well it was full when i started well maybe the world just wasn't ready to hear that If the pyramids were built by aliens, or was it men from Atlantis? Stephen, please. Yes, Stephen, please. Why did you come? If you're looking for closure, Daniel, I'd say you're a little late. Thanks, Stephen. It's good seeing you. Yeah. Always a pleasure, Stephen. There you go. Stephen should have just flicked him off at that point. Right. Like, if this was real life, he just went... He just did in the car, because he's too much of a wuss. So are you doing anything, or...? No. How are you? Yes, you are. Hello. Daniel's got a thing for redheads. Actually, I don't know if that's true or not, but he just has to say for women. Maybe we should be counting Daniel girlfriends.

[8:49] More than that. Let's just say that what the world knows about ancient Egypt barely scratches the surface. Of course, he offers no proof as he says this. He's just like, it's amazing. Right? and I'm in the middle of it. Just trust me. Right. You finally ready to take me up on that fishing trip? Actually, sir, I have a few projects on the go. Fishing trip. Are you really trying to tell me you'd rather work in the dark, dank... You and Dilker gonna go fishing? Sit on a dock with your feet perched up, sipping a cold one, and casting for that ever-elusive crappy? Colonel O'Neill, I would like to go fishing with you. Yes. Have a good time. To each his own. Her. I meant her. Say it, say it. Her. So Teal, this would be great. Just you and me. What do you say? Come on. The Lunes. Don't forget the Lunes.
